Turgutreis is the second largest town on the Bodrum Peninsula, and provides the visitors with a glimpse of real Turkish life combined with sufficient recreational amenities for everyone. Turgutreis is named after the great Turkish Ottoman Admiral of the same name ( known in the west as DRAGUT ) who was born here in the 16th. century. . Today, the town bearing the great Admiral's name is a main holiday destination on the western tip of Bodrum peninsula with it's Tangerine orchards, largest weekly market on the Bodrum Peninsula, best sunset in western Turkey and one of largest marinas in Europe where daily ferryboat services to Kos and Kalimnos (Greek Islands) provide easy access to another country. For the more recreational minded, Turgutreis features long sandy beaches, waterfront restaurants, cafes and bars all with a special Mediterranean / Aegean flavour. |
